Security |
Koloss protects your network against
attacks and virus and, in addition to efficient services,
gives the medium “Internet” a high transparency and
controllability.Stateful inspection firewall: unauthorized
access is prevented by the integrated firewall. This way your
data is protected. |
DMZ (Demilitarized Zone):
A DMZ is a separate, decoupled, and
isolated part of the network that works between the protected
network (LAN, Intranet) and the Internet. |
VPN (Virtual Private Networking)
Gateway: |
Common resources can be used centrally by
branch offices, field staff and telecommuters. Only
authorized users can access the central network and its data
with the VPN’s security mechanism. Additionally, each user
can only access data to which he has permissions.
Unauthorized access is averted. |

NAT (Network Address
Translation: |
NAT allows the connection to multiple
computers with the Internet via a single IP address. The
advantages are: |
The
entire company network can communication with the Internet
via a single IP |
address. |
Additional
protect because the computer in the LAN is not visible
externally. |
Simplifies
the network design through unrestricted availability of
address in a private |

X.509 E-mail Encryption (TLS):
Is a standard format of the ITU-T for
certificates. It contains the names and the manufacturer’s
digital signature as well as information about the identity
of the owner. For example, SSL and S/MIME are based on the
X.509 format. |
IP Filtering: |
Undesirable or potentially unsafe packets
can be blocked (or can generate errors) based on such things
as the source and destination IP addresses, protocol type,
source or destination port, TCP flags, etc. |
PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol
over Ethernet): |
Is a tool for creating network connections
via Ethernet. The protocol is used for connections to the
Internet via DSL. This makes sense for DSL flat rates whereby
the IP is normally reassigned for each new connection. The
new IP is updated in the DynDNS database; the server is then
accessible via the name address. Sub-domains can also be
dynamically managed. Each employer can be reachable under his
own sub-domain. |
Proxy Cache Server: |
Is a central area for all connection
requests. The proxy decides whether a computer is authorized
for a specific request. Normally a proxy server saves
requests in a buffer (= cache). This way the proxy can serve
up requests from clients extremely quickly, as long as the
data is already available in the cache. |
Web Server, Web Mail: |
Web contents and data can be made
centrally available to each user via the integrated web
server; e-mails can be called up and sent with web mail.

Intranet |
Koloss facilitates the setup of a complete
Intranet solution. The necessary technology is there, as well
as comprehensive security mechanisms that will protect your
company against viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and spam. |
E-mail Server (POP3, IMAP, ESMTP,
Multidrop) opt. MAPI: |
The mail server picks up your e-mails from
a provider and distributes them to all users. This can be
done by encryption or multidrop. You can decide when the
pickup will take place automatically or whether the pickup
should be started manually. Several filters protect your
internal network. |
File Server (SMB, FTP, NFS,
HTTP): |
Provides your employees with the most
important information. With the Koloss file server, you can
make data available to Windows (as a network drive), to the
web browser, via FTP or via NFS. The access permissions are
easy to set up. |
